Hottie Katrina Kaif considered wooden for facial expressions of course, proved she is certainly a worthy acting material with Namastey London. In fact it was one of last year’s biggest hits. She is now donning a role in Subhash Ghai’s next directorial venture Main Yuvraj opposite Salman Khan and Arjun Rampal.

Music is composed by A R Rahman. In this film Katrina plays a Cellist and for this she had to practice playing the Cello.

She had an instructor guiding her through the chords and even getting her posture right. She was being trained to play the movie’s theme music on the Cello. Katrina had been practicing it as though it was a piece of choreography and the moment she got it right she is said to have run to Salman and Arjun screaming in joy, only to be calmed down by director Subhash Ghai who reminded her that she has to get her act right for the next shot. Let’s hope there is more to this film than just this.

Shah Rukh Khan leads Bollywood in paying tax too. He has paid Rs 27 crore as advance tax for the current financial year (2007-2008) till December end. This is for the first three quarters of the current financial year.

Khan was also the highest taxpayer among actors during the last financial year (April 2006-March 2007) when he paid Rs 18 crore.

Top individual advance income taxpayers in Bollywood of 2007-2008 till December 31:

• Shah Rukh Khan-27 Rs crore:  Tax officials said his earnings from recent releases Om Shanti Om and Chak De India were major contributors to the tax kitty, besides his income from advertising. Tax paid this year till now is far higher than what he had paid in the whole of last financial year (2006-2007), when he had paid Rs 18 crore.
• Akshay Kumar- Rs 7 crore: His growing popularity in film and ad worlds and hits like Bhool Bhulaiya is good news for taxmen. In the last financial year, he had paid Rs 6.6 crore in tax.
• Abhishek Bachchan- Rs 3.7 crore:  Not many releases this year is one of the reasons for him paying less tax than others. Last year was a little slow too. He had paid Rs 2.6 crore in tax.
• Aamir Khan-Rs 3 crore: Tax officials believe his earnings from Taare Zameen Par would add a big amount to the tax kitty in the fourth quarter. In the last financial year he had paid Rs 6 crore in tax.
• Himesh Reshammiya-Rs 2.5 crore: Tax guys expect the amount to go up with the singer signing a number of contracts and trying his acting talents. In the last financial year he had paid Rs 4.5 crore.

Amisha Patel splits from Vikram Bhatt

Actress Amisha Patel has reportedly broken off from her longtime boyfriend Vikram Bhatt . The split happened last month because of reasons not clearly known.

But if rumours are to be believed, there is a new man in Amisha’s life. He is London-based businessman, Kanav Puri, whom Amisha met at a function in Delhi. It was Amisha’s growing closeness to Kanav that reportedly created the rift in her four-year-long relationship with Vikram.

Amisha has moved out of Vikram’s Andheri residence and is learnt to be staying with a friend nowadays.

This split between Amisha and Vikram has made her estranged parents very happy. They never approved of Amisha’s relation with Bhatt. It may be recalled that Amisha had publicly cut off all ties with her parents a few years back after she accused them of financial fraud. The actress and her estranged parents haven’t made up since then.

As for Amisha, her Bollywood career is presently on the rise again. She is working in director Kunal Kohli’s next film along with Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee .
